Crane Forks
Crane Forks - Moving Loads High Up Almost Without Restriction
Outside the classic intralogistics operating areas, the transport of goods often faces major challenges. Particularly in changing outdoor applications, where loads often have to be transported over obstacles to great heights, special aids are required. On construction sites, for example, crane forks have established themselves as an extremely practical load handling device. With the help of a construction site crane or a truck loading crane, crane forks are used to safely load and unload palletized goods such as construction materials. Also known as loading fork, pallet fork or load fork, these practical helpers have become indispensable for transporting loads on construction sites and have established themselves there thanks to their easy handling and versatile application options.
Flexible use of crane forks for different purposes
Primarily designed as load handling devices for loading and unloading loads up to a maximum weight of 3 tons, crane forks or crane pallet forks are used in a variety of industries.
Thus, the practical load handling equipment is particularly aimed at companies in the construction industry, construction machinery rental, as well as the building materials trade. Essentially, the use of crane forks is concentrated on two variants:
Use in conjunction with a truck loading crane:
In cases of direct deliveries with building materials on pallets or for supplying construction sites with working machines and working materials, the load is picked up via the crane fork with a truck-mounted loading crane. Such mobile crane solutions are often used in practice by specialized dealers of building materials or by construction companies.
Use in conjunction with a construction site crane:
On site, the crane fork - in connection with a construction site crane - is available for various transport tasks, such as unloading trucks or providing working machines and building materials, such as roof tiles or masonry bricks.
The crane fork solutions from Staplerlift bring essential features for the application and convince as a safe and efficient means of load transport:
- Maximum load capacities from 1 to 3 t
- Adjustable forks to adapt the fork width to the respective pallet formats
- Adjustable loading heights by adapting the carrying mast
Crane fork with automatic weight compensation
- The weight of the load automatically adjusts to the center of gravity position via a damped mechanism, which is integrated into a rail in the upper beam of the crane fork
- Within the rail, the support ring or clamping bracket for the center of gravity position can be freely adjusted
- When the crane fork is lifted, the automatic weight compensation brings the fork together with the load into the optimum center of gravity position
Crane fork with manual weight compensation
- The carrying ring or clamping bracket is manually placed in the optimum center of gravity position using the ratchet adjustment on the upper beam
- The crane fork is in the optimum center of gravity position during lifting
Safety regulations for the use of crane pallet forks
To avoid accident hazards in the area of operation for the employees concerned, special safety regulations apply to the use of load handling attachments such as crane forks. These are defined in DGUV Regulation 109-017 "Operation of load handling attachments and slings in hoisting operations" and basically cover the following points:
- No exceeding of the maximum load capacity
- Visual inspection for obvious defects and functional check, especially the devices and mechanisms for weight compensation
- Professional pick-up and set-down of the load by the crane fork
- No standing in the immediate danger zone - this included in particular the slewing and lifting range of the crane together with the crane fork and load
- Careful handling during use to avoid damage that could affect the load capacity
- Safe, stable storage when not in use
- Regular UVV inspections by an external, qualified person
- Documentation and proof of test results
- Elimination of possible defects at the responsibility of the company
